Confessions of a Compulsive Window Shopper

A friend of mine is getting married next Saturday, and I just so happen to be in desperate need of some new threads, so today after work I went shopping with my best friend!  We're co-workers (I work the 9-5:30 shift, and she works the 5:30-7) so during the hour and half she worked, I browsed through the mall's stores.  Which, if I'm being completely honest, really suck.  Thankfully, though, we're going to get a renovation sometime soon.  There have been contractors and whatnot all over the mall for the past month or so and they're all being pretty hush hush about it, so I'm assuming it's going to be something big.  Wait....where was I?  Oh yeah, browsing through the mall's stores!
The first store where I looked for a dress was Deb, but I normally find their attire just a bit too flashy for my tastes.  So onward I went to American Eagle.  Okay, okay.  I knew I wasn't going to find a dress to wear to my friend's wedding in American Eagle, but it's my favorite store so I just couldn't resist going inside and trying something on.  In my defense, I did try one dress on while in American Eagle, but as you can tell from the picture below, the comfy shirt and adorable jean shorts clearly stole my attention.

Sadly, I had to part ways with both items because they were too expensive :(  But never fear, I get paid next Friday!  Those shorts shall be mine!  Eeeeeeeep!  They're soo cute.  Every time I see them, it tempts me even more to buy them.
Okay, so then I attempted to do some real dress shopping.  And by that I mean that I went to PacSun.  But PacSun was full of fail tonight, and I couldn't even find anything to try on.  Which seriously sucked.
I still had some time to kill before I went back to the mall office to meet Sabrina so I stopped in at Aeropostale to see what they had to offer.  They were having an awesome sale, and I'm like a freaking bloodhound when it comes to sniffing out good deals on clothes.  So in I went.  I found the dress below.
And although I liked it, I just couldn't fall in love with it.  Also, it was $14.99, which really isn't that much in perspective, but I'm used to finding an entire outfit for around twenty bucks.  So yeah, I didn't want to spend that much on a measly sorta cute dress that was only going to sit in my closet until I wore it once, then go back into my closet to sit for the next six months until I decide to take it to Plato's Closet.  It just wasn't doing it for me, so I passed.
Once Sabrina closed the office, we headed over to Ross to see if they had any cute clothes.  As always, Ross did not disappoint.  We walked in, grabbed about six of the silliest, sexiest, sluttiest outfits we could put together and sauntered off the the dressing room.  It's been a long time since the two of us have had the pleasure of sharing an evening shopping, so we milked it for everything it was worth :D  Among the outfits we tried on, I grabbed a fitted, zip-up romper, and a zebra printed one shoulder romper.  And believe me, some girls can pull off a romper.  I, however, am not one of those girls.  Needless to say, I looked ridiculous in both of them.  And no, I do not have pictures.
Sabrina found a shirt that she loved, but I failed to find anything that really popped out at me.  We were headed up to the cash register and we decided to have a little looksie at the dresses.  Good idea, considering I was supposed to be there to shop for a dress.  After picking up a few dresses that would have been perfect for a prom, I spotted it.  The perfect creation for Caelyn's wedding.  It was grey, and made from that super soft, breathable cotton fabric that I love so much.  Unfortunately, it was an XL.  Curses.  I hate finding the perfect dress only to discover that it's two sizes too small or just a size too large, and believe me, this happens to me ALL THE TIME!  I'm stubborn, so I decided that I was still going to try the grey dress on despite the fact that it would be too big, when I spotted it.  This time it was in green, and even lovelier than the grey.  I grabbed the tag only to discover that this, too, was an XL dress.  Foiled again by those sneaky devils at Ross.  I weighed my three options, I could either:  try the grey dress on and see if I could make it work, scour the racks of dresses for my size, or just let it go and go to a department store where they have a million of everything.  I was musing over my potential choices when Sabrina held it up.  It.  What I had been waiting for all night.  The dress I was going to wear to Caelyn's wedding, my mom's rehearsal dinner, and any other formal function I could think of until the end of the summer.  The dress of my life.
Simple, yet fantastic.  It was turquoise, which is my favorite color to wear.  Actually, I love pretty much anything turquoise.

Needless to say, I bought the dress.  And at $8.99, it was a steal!  It's a bit more daring than what I'm used to.  But, fuck, every girl deserves to have at least one daring outfit in her wardrobe.  This is mine :)
